I find that the longer we work in this industry of creating and making, the less we find inspiration from inside the field we work in; more comes from other fields. Whether it is an artist who gets inspired by music, or a graphic designer by architecture, or an architect by a fine artist. This makes me wonder: what happens if you put creative professionals from different fields in a room? What insights would come out of this?
— Felix Ng, Festival Curator, FoodCine.ma
What happens when a group of people with professional backgrounds and amateur interests in food, cinema, and design gather? How will they relate? What is the nature of their exchange?
The obvious commonalities are the two 'C's: creation and consumption—and one feeds the other.
Join festival curator Felix Ng and his guests Alvin Ho, Clara Koh, Tian Ji, and Adrian Lo in a live and unscripted talk show where they explore, question, and discover new insights and meanings in their overlapping worlds of food fests, film feasts, and delicious design.
(A certain five-hour-long meal, an American documentary film poster, and Wong Kar Wai may be conversation starters.)
Alvin Ho and Clara Koh (Atelier HOKO)
Alvin Ho and Clara Koh are the founders of Atelier HOKO, an independent research lab that investigates the material and immaterial conditions making up our experience of the everyday.
Tian Ji and Adrian Lo
Tian Ji and Adrian Lo are filmmakers based in Hong Kong. Their award-winning collaborations include A Portrait of Sun Wah Kee, a short film about a local restaurant set against the background of urban Hong Kong, and A Way of Life, a documentary that looks at what gives life to Japanese pottery.
